Bio
Exhibitions

Elgar’s work, which exists in relation to the ‘staged photography’ genre, dissolves the dividing line between reality and fiction, creating settings that draw their inspiration as much from popular culture and the news as they do from mythology, literature and the history of art. Like unsolved puzzles, these photographs hint at stories that are never fully defined, presenting a multiplicity of details that serve as narrative clues, which the viewers can then develop with their imagination. Balancing the line between the fairy-tale and the documentation of bizarre realities, the artist’s settings immerse the viewer in an enigmatic psychological space characterised by contrasting tensions to which it is possible to find solutions only through one’s own imagination.
