The Icelandic artist orientates her research towards the exploration of the landscape. “Making art in Iceland, nature is hard to escape. It seeps into your everyday, your rhythm, aesthetics; here, there is so much more nature than people, more cloud formations than opinions”. The landscape that Hallgrímsdóttir chooses to deal with in the Fog Patches series (2014) has tastes of the commonplace, images of non-events, silent fragments of immutability shrouded in fog. In Untitled (2012) series, produced as part of the trans-European “Visual Narratives: European Borderlines” project, the artist documented her trip between Iceland and Turkey trying to look at both places with a pure perspective, taking on the untainted point of view of a foreigner. “What remains is a collection of moments accumulated on the way. The space in between is there for the imagination to colour in”.
