Her photographs have always arisen from performative actions, carried out for the benefit of the camera, in which her body serves as a conduit for an exploration of public and private spaces. Her whole work takes the form, then, of an investigation into places, and is shot through with an unconventional approach aimed to question the conformism that pervades the modern world and thepredominant modes of interpreting it. The images of the Land Ends series were taken on Hornby Island (Canada), in the 1970s favoured destination of youngsters in search of alternative lifestyles. Although the utopias that gave form to the island are now but a distant echo, still the entire universe described by Land Ends seems capable of offering the body a shelter, a place in which to regenerate energies in order to go back to the world and tune in to it in a new and unconventional way.
