“Photography – as the artist said – allows us to scrutinize something; like putting a glass dish over a specimen to look more closely at it”. In line with this idea, Jones works by means of the serial analysis of  a number of carefully selected subjects and across a number of themes, exploring the formal aspects of photography, such as measuring, transcription onto the photographic surface, and light. In the artist’s recent works, focused on portraits of horses and roses, she reflects on stereographic photography working on the concept of mirroring. Produced using studio lights that only illuminate the foreground of the scene, the photographs make the subjects appear isolated, standing out against a black background. These works are an homage to photography itself and to the visual capacity that an intelligent handling of the material can make it possible to exploit.
