Born in 1966, he graduated in Architecture at the University of Milan in 1992, after two periods of work and study at the Faculty of Architecture – TU Delft /Netherlands (1989) and ETSAB of Barcelona/Spain (1990-92).

Professor of History of Contemporary architecture at the Seconda Facoltà di Architettura “Luigi Vanvitelli”, Naples. Ph.D in History and theory of architecture at the Faculty of Architecture – TU Delft (NL).

He held workshops and conferences in many Italian and international faculties of Architecture; guest professor at the Fine Arts Academy, Faculty of Architecture of Guang-Zhou (China).

He collaborates with many Italian and international specialized magazines, among which Lotus, Abitare, Domus, Costruire, Ottagono, Il progetto, Archis, L’architecture d’aujourd’hui, The Plan, Progetti e Concorsi/ Sole24 ore and A+U.

he has been in charge of organizing and setting up many events related to the contemporary architecture, among which: “Le forme del cibo” (Milan, 1996), “Stalker” (Milan, 1996), “Santiago Calatrava. Work in Progress” (Milan,1998-99), “Effetti Collaterali” (Milan, 2002), “Medaglia d’oro per l’architettura italiana” (Milan, Naples, Rome, Singapore and Guang-Zhou, 2004-05), “Piero Portaluppi” (Milan, 2004), “Antinapoli” (with Cherubino Gambardella, Vincenzo Trione, Francesco Jodice and Fabrizia Ippolito, Naples, 2005), “20.06. Annali dell’architettura” (Naples, 2006), “20.07 Annali dell’architettura” (Naples, 2007); “Sustainab.Italy. Since 1995 he is consulting editor for Architecture and Design for Skira publishing house.

From 2001 to 2004, he has been scientific supervisor for Architecture and City planning of the Milan Triennale and member of the scientific committee for which he has conceived and curated the first edition of “Medaglia d’Oro all’Architettura Italiana” (2003) and the first edition of “Festa per l’Architettura” (2004).

From 2000 to 2003 he has been in charge of the scientific direction of “Progetto Portaluppi” for Fondazione Portaluppi, Milano.

Since 2007 he’s scientific supervisor of “FMG Spazio per l’architettura contemporanea”, Milano.

From 2007 to 2008 cultural consultant at the Italian presidency UIA for the 23° International Congress UIA, Turin.

In 2007 he founded and directed the annual magazine “The Skira Yearbook of world architecture” that has become the first Italian online magazine in English dedicated to architecture and design (www.ymag.it).

In 2009, together with Anna Barbara, he founded “Viapiranesi srl”, a multi-disciplinary studio, specialized in advanced strategic researches for architecture and design, collaborating as consultant for architecture quality with many public and private institutions.

Linea errante nell’architettura moderna (with Fondazione Portaluppi, Skira 2003), A+U n.420 “Italian metamorph” (invited editor, 2005), The Italian Legacy in Washington DC (Skira, 2007); (with Alessandro D’Onofrio) Sustainab.Italy. He received from the X Architecture Biannial of Venice the Ernesto Nathan Rogers Award for critique and communication of architecture (2006) and the Jean Tschumi UIA prize for architectural critique (2008).
