Travelling exhibitions
The collections of Italian and International contemporary photography belonging to the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio of Modena constitute an heritage of about one thousand works documenting the outcomes of the artistic research carried out in recent years in the field of image. The two collections have been formed by acquisitions of both emerging authors and already well-known artists and are made up of photographs, artist videos and films besides various space installations.
The collections’ works have been subjected to new exhibition projects conceived on purpose for other institutions, developed through new thematic paths aiming to highlight specific aspects of the image.
Fondazione Fotografia Modena can be a partner for the creation of exhibitions and specific exhibition projects based on its own collections or borrowed from the outside, with intent to create, promote and support the artists’ work as well as the image culture. Several partnerships have already been established with Italian and International institutions and exhibitions have been presented in other venues, such as the Venice Foundation Fondazione Bevilacqua La Masa, the Kyoto Museum of Modern Art, the Edinburgh Stills Scotland’s Center for Photography and the Filature in Mulhouse.
Particularly relevant is the partnership established with the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio of Foligno, with which has been signed a collaboration agreement in the visual art field regarding the organisation of at least an annual photography and artist video exhibition from the collections of the Modena Foundation to be held at the CIAC premises (Centro Italiano Arte Contemporanea) in Foligno. In 2012 took place the first exhibition “Il corpo metafora di un’esperienza” (“The body, metaphor of an experience”) while, at the end of 2013, another photography exhibition concerning Japanese photography has been scheduled. For the loan of works no fee was foreseen: as a consequence, the Foligno Foundation covered the entire cost of the admission fees to the Fondazione Fotografia biennial Master course of two students coming from Umbria.
