I built a pile made up of thousands of photocopies of a photograph which is important for me. This photograph depicts my aunt, but I don’t know where or when it was taken. The image serves as a symbol of a memory, and thus takes on a shape and a mass: here it becomes as tall as me.

Memories determine who we are. At the same time, it’s us who shape them, creating a mediation of our own experience. A changing memory, made up of unstable levels, just like a pile of sheets of paper.

My work originates from the memory, from my affections symbolically represented by objects. Il mio lavoro nasce dalla memoria, dai miei affetti simbolicamente rappresentati da oggetti.

Water is the element that hosts my dialogue with memory, origin and medium through which the mental process connects with the chemical one.

It is a protective womb and a filter that alters, blurs and fades, it is the matter in which objects are embraced and the liquid that makes them emerge on the paper.

It is the medium but also the subject of the image that occupies the space and becomes a lens in order to give a new interpretation of what it contains.

Instead, the objects are surrounded by water, they are saturated with it and they are transformed by it. The liquid blurring that encloses them dissolves the the lines of the matter, it makes them potential forms, embryos open to new possibilities.
